Reviews
"As a parent of three girls all of whom have attended Ballet Rockland for a number of years, I can honestly say that what impresses me most about the school and Ms. Tew is that everything she does centers around respect. You can see that shine through in every interaction, in every class. In a world where the media increasingly seems to showcase provocatively dressed young girls who are taught dance tricks to impress the masses, Ms. Tew’s goal is simply to pass along the beauty, artistry and technique of ballet and make it accessible to everyone. She respects her students as individuals and respects the art of teaching all that ballet has to offer, and that’s why my kids keep asking to go back to her school. Will they grow up to be ballerinas? Perhaps, or perhaps not. But what matters to me most is that with Ms. Tew’s positive influence and nurturing teaching style, I know they will grow up with a strong sense of self-worth and will meet any new challenge with respect for the process of learning."

"Rebecca is an incredibly knowledgeable teacher, with an approach to ballet technique that is deeply rooted in tradition, but up to date with industry standards in health and well-being of dancers. Her attention to artistry is top-notch."

"My daughter has been taking classical ballet with Ms. Tew for 4 years and has fallen in love with it, in large part due to Ms. Tew. The school is truly a hidden gen with highly professional training in a positive environment. Ms. Tew's love for the kids and her high expectations of her dancers produce top quality results. The annual gala in June is a highlight of the year and the quality of performance is a testament to the hard work of Ms. Tew and her school. Highly recommended!"

"When you’re screwing up and nobody says anything to you anymore that means they’ve given up on you…you may not want to hear it but your critics are often the ones telling you they still love you and care about you and want to make you better." - Randy Pausch. I watched an interview of "The Last Lecture" and Randy Pausch said something that stuck with me and made me think of Ms. Tew. There are so many dance teachers who will falsely encourage and make everyone think they are a star. If that's the kind of teacher you want Ballet Rockland is not for you. However, if you want someone who will work endlessly to make you the best you can be, Ms. Tew is the right choice. Being corrected is part of life, I have never taken time to appreciate those who critique me. Each year I can personally see my own improvements. Ballet Rockland has increased my confidence, worth ethic and has helped shaped me into who I am today. I am forever grateful for every one of Ms. Tew's corrections. I would recommend Ballet Rockland to anyone who wants their kids to grow up being strong, confident and motivated. "

"I’ve been attending Ballet Rockland for over 5 years now and the school has helped me succeed in countless ways. Not only is the instruction truly phenomenal but the atmosphere of appreciation of the art of dance creates a very respectable studio. The staff has proven to work beyond expectations with every student to ensure that they can achieve their goals. The studio provides good training to students of all levels and gives many opportunities for students to perform and share the art of ballet with their community."

"We love this studio. My little daughter walked by the studio for a whole summer everyday at 2 yo just to watch Mrs Rebecca and the girls dance .Mrs Rebecca was so friendly and warm and let her visit wherever she wanted. Since she could walk she has wanted to dance but is shy and reserved which is not who she is in the studio. Mrs Rebecca is a gem of a women and an incredible teacher. She cares for her students beyond measure and her skills are unmatched. She is Kind, accommodating and accomplished and I'm so happy we found ballet Rockland"
Our Method
"Based on the Russian method." Simply meaning we are carrying tradition into the 21st century, using methods and techniques influenced by the Vaganova method.
We combine the timeless traditions of the Russian Method with a more modern understanding of anatomy and sports science. This fusion ensures the physical and emotional well-being of each dancer while guiding them towards their goals. Working closely with Nutritionists and Physical Therapists we carefully address all aspects of the developing youth that we are trusted with in the studio.
While we understand that not every student is training for a career as professional dancer, we know that providing a rich and proper ballet education creates a love and appreciation for the arts.
Although Classical Ballet is our focus, we make sure our dancers are exposed to all avenues of dance, and performing arts. Our objective with each student is to help them find them find their place. Watching them as they grow and develop, we prioritize that they are on a healthy and realistic path.
From the beginner, or recreational dancer, to the professional, ages three through adult, we ensure Classical ballet is accessible to everyone.
